Question Why there are no Baha'i communities in Israel?

I know I should have known it long time ago but I miss it somehow. Can anyone explain it to me or direct me where I can read it for myself why there is no LSAs and NSA in Holy Land?

Anton - There is a good discussion here Why don’t Bahais teach in Israel? « Sen McGlinn's blog

If you go down after the first few replies and questions to "Rudy D. Gumban", there is some great information and Tablets Quoted.

God Bless and Regards Tony

Tony, thanks!
It is a great resource and a deep study there. It gave me some notion why Baha’is do not teach in Israel. It is because Baha’u’llah said so. It is fine with me.
But it doesn’t explain why Baha’is don’t form Local and National Assemblies there.
Any ideas?

I don't know why they don't have Assemblies for the Baha'is who reside in the Holy Land. However since this isn't an actual Baha'i law it's something the Universal House of Justice can decide to change at some point in time.

When the Shah of Iran was in power, he filled many of his most sensitive government positions with Baha'is, because he knew they were trustworthy.

Baha'u'llah forbade the Baha'is from 'fighting back' if they were persecuted for their Faith. In Iran today, the Iranian authorities wish that they would--they'd then have the perfect excuse to increase their persecution.

Many enemies of the Faith accuse the Baha'is of being agents for Israel/Zionism since our holy places are located there. The Israeli government trusts the Baha'is, and knows they won't be pulling any funny business or trying to undermine the Jewish state or the Jewish religion. Israel protects our holy sites and we are grateful...the chosen people were chosen by God to be our protectors in this day.

Baha'u'llah has provided the answers before we even ask the questions. There is a Divine wisdom in all of this.

I think Josh has provided a beautifully worded, and quite accurate, response.

A beautifully worded response, yes. But I can’t see how it answers my question about why there is no LSAs and NSA in Holy Land?

The Universal House of Justice has received your email message dated 29 June 1995 and we have been asked to respond.

....For your information, the people in Israel have access to factual information about the Faith, its history and general principles. Books concerning the Faith are available in libraries throughout Israel, and Israelis are welcome to visit the Shrines and the surrounding gardens. However, in keeping with a policy that has been strictly followed since the days of Bahá’u'lláh, Bahá’ís do not teach the Faith in Israel. Likewise, the Faith is not taught to Israelis abroad if they intend to return to Israel. When Israelis ask about the Faith, their questions are answered, but this is done in a manner which provides factual information without stimulating further interest.

With loving Bahá’í greetings,

Department of the Secretariat

---

The Universal House of Justice was given the promise by Baha'u'llah that, quote, 'God will verily inspire them with whatsoever He willeth'.

The directions of the House of Justice, are, for Baha'is, looked at as being from Baha'u'llah, Himself.

Perhaps Baha'u'llah wanted to remove even the hint of impropriety by asking Baha'is not to teach (and by implication not form administrative bodies, beyond the House of Justice) in Israel. I view the instruction that only Baha'is may financially contribute to the Baha'i funds in the same way.

While there are Bahais with temporary assignments in Israel, I do not think there are any "Bahai residents" in Israel. If there is anywhere were there are nine adult Bahai residents, it would be Haifa - where the seat of the Universal House of Justice is. Would it be wise, to have local spiritual assembly dealing with community affairs and relationships with the city government, while the Universal House of Justice was doing the same things? It seems obvious to me that it would be neither practicable, nor desirable, to form a local spiritual assembly in Haifa.
