Bahai Holy Places in Iran

I had understood that there are Bahai Holy places in Iran. What are the names of some of the Holy places and what they are for and how dangerous would it be to go and see them.

The current situation is that the Holy Places have been destroyed.. so for instance the House of the Bab in Shiraz was levelled and is probably a street or parking lot for a nearby Mosque.. There was a House of Baha'u'llah's family in Mazandaran that was torn down..a grave of Quddus was destroyed.. Baha'i gravesites are destroyed and so on..

More detail canbe found at

i have some links to the different places in Iran that are of historical interest set up in GoogleEarth if you are interested i could ... post them? or e-mail them to you if you wish.

There is another question which has not been answered: about going to Iran... If i am not mistaken you need to consult with the World Center if you desire to visit Iran since there are very special considerations/instructions which must be followed by those considering visits to that blessed country.

Have a great evening!

Thank you for very much and for telling me that permission is needed from the World Center. Please post the links of historical places in Iran here.

I guess it is out of the question then for a few tens of thousands of Baha'is from all over the world to fly in, and walk the streets praising Baha'u'llah. sigh :-)

Yes going there now would be contrary to wisdom, in my opinion. But any sorrow in being cut off from the sites in the Cradle of the Faith is more than compensated for by our access to 'Akka and Haifa and the Shrines.

The House of Bahá'u''lláh in Tehran is still standing, to my knowledge. History of the House of Bahá'u'lláh in Tihran, Iran

Also, the other point of our Hajj besides the House of the Báb is the House of Bahá'u'lláh in northern Baghdad, which is still standing and has been converted to a house for pilgrims to the various shrines there. While we can't perform the necessary "rituals" for the Hajj, I think that might be slightly easier to access than the Iranian sites. (I've never tried, though, so I could well be wrong)

The House of Baha'u'llah - YouTube

From the text introducing the video...

This is the home of the prophet founder of the Baha'i Faith, Baha'u'llah, that was destroyed by the Iranian government in June 2004. It was called The House of Mirza Abbas Nuri. A statement in The Times notes that the house was a "historical monument, a precious example of Islamic Iranian architecture, a matchless model of art, spirituality and architecture." None of this beautiful holy home exists anymore.

That's too bad.

But we know the plans, and what matters is that they can be rebuilt -- their spiritual purpose wasn't limited to the fact that they were physically related to the physical dimensions of the Manifestations.
