Do Bahais observe any shabbat?

Dedicating certain day of the week to spiritual pursuits and physical restoration is essential for Jews, Christians and Muslims.
Jews do it the seventh day of the week, most Christians on the first day and Muslims on the sixth.

Did Baha'u'llah make any recommendation on this regard?

If a person coming from one of these faith is used to rest on certain day, could she preserve this pratice after becoming a Bahai?

Greetings Camachoe,

May bounty be upon you for this is Friday, which is, if you are seeking a comparison, the day of shabbat.

From the time of accepting the Bahá'í Faith I have always kept Friday free for this purpose. It is my day of prayer, meditation, contemplation and rest. At this time however very few believers have the good fortune to use Friday this way and some are not even aware of this. While it is fair to say that all believers can face a range of steep learning curves, taking Friday as a day of rest is perhaps the one recommendation I would encourage all new believers to consider working towards. Once you can achieve this many other things become possible too.

Sen McGlinn, also a user of this forum, has produced a rather interesting article on this subject matter. I will link you to the relevant page here. This way you can perhaps come to your own conclusions about Friday https://senmcglinn.wordpress.com/200...day-thank-god/

If I understand correctly from the article, converts can bring their own day of rest to the Baha'i Faith (e.g. Christians in the West can bring Sunday along).

This is important for me because as a Christian I observed the Saturday (I was a Seventh Day Adventist) and my ancestors are more likely Sephardite Jews.

I found joy and spiritual and physical restoration by putting apart a day in the week... I would not matter if it is Friday, Saturday or Sunday... although for practical reasons related to the calendar of labor days, Saturday or Sunday would be more feasible.

Deuteronomy 18:22 " If the prophet speaks in the LORD's name but his prediction does not happen or come true, you will know that the LORD did not give that message. That prophet has spoken without my authority and need not be feared"
I m not sinless, if I claimed to be part of Godhead automatically I'm false prophet, I'm sinful and I need forgetfulness of God like each other human being

Hey, Pawel, I tried to engage you in conversation before. All you did was talk past me and ignore all of my questions and inquiries and then usually quote the bible for some reason even though the verse you would quote inevitably had no relevance to my inquiry.

Any lack of people believing you or following you is, well, your own fault. If your message is genuine you do God and His Word only a disservice by refusing to disseminate or discuss it, calling for mere obedience and belief without offering anything in return.

So now I will just refer back to the Quran, the Word of God. "They say, 'Become... Nazarethans you will be guided.' Say, 'Rather, (we follow) the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth'" (2:135) I'll just take amusement at the fact you've labeled your ideas with the same word as is used in certain Quranic warnings. Interesting choice.

Camachoe,
I think its awesome that you were SDA. I live near Loma Linda University and for years have associated with many Adventists, including attending one of their churches for three years nearly every Sabbath.
A few of us in this area came up with a Shirt idea and another Baha'i created a Facebook site. The Shirt says 1260 AH = 1844 AD = ONE BE
It has started literally hundreds of conversations in the local area, and has spread to over 20 countries and Islands around the world and about 35 states.
Maybe check it out. Tony is into it, too... ;-)
