Celebrating the Twin Births

Just wondering what everybody's plans are to celebrate the Bab's and Baha'u'llah's births. Our general area here which includes 8 communities is planning a celebration with music and multicultural food. Unfortunately for me, it's 230 miles round-trip, after dark right through deer and elk country. In lieu of going to the party, a few of us older ladies, who don't see well at night, are going to the Bridge Homeless Shelter and preparing a delicious home cooked meal. We did this last year, so maybe it will become a tradition and the shelter will look forward to those Baha'is coming to prepare a meal in November.

Loving regards,
Becky

Sounds great Becky, this is a great thing to do for the Birthdays.

We are 600 km (360 Miles) from our nearest Community. Thus we are yet to determine what we can do here.

Hopefully we can get some people together for Prayers a Meeting and maybe a lunch.

God bless and regards Tony

Wow, do I love that!!!

A suggestion I had for another community that ended up being passed but that I still think is a neat idea, is releasing Chinese lanterns in the sky and/or on the water. There are even lotus shaped ones for the water and they are not very expensive and look spectacular. For the bicentennial imagine 200 hundred flying lanterns in the sky; (or 100 by air 100 by sea, or 200 up and 200 down...) it would be very beautiful. I also like the idea of having a Chinese lion dance with two lions! It is wonderfully celebratory and exciting. I wonder how much that would cost since it is off season and those dancers and their costumes are usually only in demand at Chinese New year. Well, those are some of my ideas, but Becky, I so much like your plan and think it is wonderfully dignified and appropriate and a very good deed indeed.

Cheers

A visual feast for sure! Would be a beautiful idea for those who live near water. I would certainly go to watch! Everyone within a certain radius would witness and wonder.

Loving regards,

Out of those 8 communities, there is 1 assembly, so our numbers are small, even if we can all get together.....getting together and sharing prayers and a meal is always something I greatly enjoy. There is just something about breaking bread with others and being grateful for the opportunity to do so, that is special. Hearty congratulations on your remarriage....you both are blessed!

Loving regards,
Becky

So I've been trying to look this up online but I've been getting a bunch of mixed information, I suspect some of it is old...

Generally, when, in terms of the Gregorian calendar this year, are the twin birthdays going to be celebrated?? I genuinely cannot figure this out

You see, this is why this research has been so difficult.

I think I'll either go with the Calendar Tony provided, or just tell my boss I need all of November off "Just in Case".

Thanks regardless!!

Edit: Checked my email account for emails from my local community. I'm not really sure what's going on during the twin birthdays locally now. Looks like there've been a BUNCH of rescheduling due to confusion over the date and then complications with how the original intended venue doesn't allow outside food.

The most recent email I have seems to indicate the first is one of the birthdays, at the very least...

Well...we are serving our meal on the 2nd, so we are good. I'd say I'll remember for next year, but I know better! Thanks Tony!

Well, we served up a lovely meal at the shelter and enjoyed wonderful fellowship in doing so. Then we went out for supper and enjoyed more fellowship with spouses and friends. Happy Birthday, Baha'u'llah! God is great and life is good!
