In Scriptures, are the soul and spirit of human the same word and interchangeable, or different concepts?

Many years ago I had a small Baha'i book that explained this question, I would have to say they are different concepts. An animal has spirit but no soul, whereas man has both spirit and soul. Sorry I no longer have the book.

Peace
