Why every prophet has been denied?

Baha'u'llah says, in every Age, those who have searched and prayed to God to Manifest Himself, when God manifested Himself and fulfilled His promise, they All denied Him and Failed to recognize Him:

"Ponder for a moment, and reflect upon that which hath been the cause of such denial on the part of those who have searched with such earnestness and longing."

The Kitáb-i-Íqán | Bahá

What are the causes of this denial? What's wrong? Is it God who have not been able to manifest Himself and make Himself known in a way to be recognized easily by all, or it is human's inability, which cost them failure the very reason of their life?

To me Our Failure.

I'm saying that it is a lifetime of discussion that could come from it.

Free will a mysterious Gift to Humanity.

From Book of Certitude and other Baha'I Writings, the Cause and Reasons can be listed:

1) When people see that, He who is the Eternal Truth and Everlasting has appeared in the 'body' of a 'mortal' man, they fail to see and recognize Him.
How can a man who was born from his mother, eats, sleeps, and walks and dies, claim to be a Manifestation of God?

2) Baha'u'llah confirms, that the Cause of God is difficult to be recognized and is Highly trying:

“Verily Our Word is abstruse, bewilderingly abstruse.”. Book of Iqan

3) People follow in the footsteps of their religious leaders or imitate from others

4) People have learned from their leaders literal reading of the Holy Books, though many of the Passages were not to be taken literally.

5) It is often against people's desire when by coming of a new Revelation, the previous Laws are abrogated.

6) Baha'u'llah says People wonder in the path of delusion, and their superstitious have deprived them to see God or hear His words

7) The condition of a seeker as Abdulbaha says is that of a thirsty. People are attached to worldly things, and don't feel the thirst.

8) Fanatical beliefs, and feelings of love and hate, cause them not to accept the truth.

9) Therefore, in every Age, people clinging to some of the Passages of their Holy Book, have thought that never comes again another Prophet with a new revelation from God.

If you found other reasons, please add them to the list.

"Consider how at the time of the appearance of every Revelation, those who open their hearts to the Author of that Revelation recognize the Truth, while the hearts of those who fail to apprehend the Truth are straitened by reason of their shutting themselves out from Him. However, openness of heart is bestowed by God upon both parties alike. God desireth not to straiten the heart of anyone, be it even an ant, how much less the heart of a superior creature, except when he suffereth himself to be wrapt in veils, for God is the Creator of all things." -The Bab

To begin with, you need to clarify whether it really is denial, or whether it is simply abstaining from making any decision regarding the matter on the grounds that one doesn't have sufficient evidence or reasons one way or another.

He that is not with you is not automatically against you. Although people tend to consider only these two options.

That those who are siding with the prophet demand, essentially, instant and unquestioning submission, trust from people.

Of course, those who are siding with the prophet see nothing wrong with that.

It is the failure of prophets and of those who side with them, because they demand of people that which cannot be done intentionally -- ie. believe or trust.

Also, what you call "independent investigation of truth" apparently comes down to "reading the texts for oneself and believing them." Something quite different than what people usually understand by the phrase "independent investigation of truth."

It is denying and nothing else. How can it be, when the Sun is risen, people say, No, it is not risen?
The proof of the Sun is its light and heat of it. How could it be, when a Prophet is raised with manifest signs, people deny all these signs?
Perhaps people are sleeping? Or their vain imaginations has become a veil, between their heart and themselves, depriving them of seeing God with their own eyes, or hear His words with their own ears. How could it be, when a true guidence has appeared, people fail to follow it. Is it not like a stubbern child, who says 'I don't need a teacher, I don't need to go to school'?

Emotion. Love, specifically.

The Second Valley warns of the dangers of Love. When one Loves something, one can mistake challenge for personal attack, and react with Hatred, Hostility, and Defensiveness, in attempt to protect that which they love. This is the cause of things like racism, nationalism, classicism, those sorts of prejudices. People come to love those they identify with, and react to those who are "Other" as a threat. But it is also the cause of rejection of prophets.

People fall in love with what they believe the truth to be. When someone comes along with different beliefs of the truth, those differences are interpreted as Personal Attack, and hatred, defensiveness, and the like follow from the Lover.

This extends to even the most rational arguments. A Prophet could be obviously a Prophet, but will still be rejected out of love of the person's current worldview which, being challenged, is perceived as being "under attack".

If you want non-religious instances of this, turn your eyes to politics. Take any political group and look for a statistic that is blatantly false. It's not hard, statistics is a ridiculously deceptive field, where numbers can and are twisted to say anything the statistician wants them to say. Find one that doesn't hold up to scrutiny, then try to challenge the validity of this statistic to someone who is political. No matter how much evidence you may have that this statistic is false, no matter if you agree with them overall but simply think the statistic is disingenuous, trying to challenge a politically minded person's statistic will not go well for you.
