As an earnest young person I examined the Bahá'í faith and totally missed one point that now seems frequently referenced - the wish that we become happy. I decided that the persuit of happiness was a total waste of time and of no importance.

Now in middle age I am discovering joyfulness but am just a beginner, being in the habit of not looking for this. I may apear gloomy but let me tell you that it feels good when it comes.

Does this mean that if we want to take difficulties in our stride then we must work on our spiritual wellbeing? How do souls become sanctified? There is a choice involved. Some people believe that some people are just chosen and it is their destiny but I am veering towards...
