When we see people maligning each other.

I think it's better not to respond at all to those posts, in those threads. Any response at all to those posts, in those threads, will do nothing but fan the flames, and further derail the discussions.

Whenever I've been maligned in a forum, it only made things worse for me, to see people arguing with my detractors. What helped me was friendly responses to my posts, there and elsewhere in the forums, and private messages sympathizing with me.

I think you are correct...no response is a very good response!

Oh People of God! I admonish you to observe courtesy, for above all else it is the prince of virtues. Well it is with him who is illumined with the light of courtesy and is attired with the vesture of uprightness. Whoso is endued with courtesy hath indeed attained a sublime station.

A most Stirling Idea Jim

".....Care for the stranger as for one of your own; show to alien souls the same loving kindness ye bestow upon your faithful friends. Should any come to blows with you, seek to be friends with him; should any stab you to the heart, be ye a healing salve unto his sores; should any taunt and mock at you, meet him with love. Should any heap his blame upon you, praise ye him; should he offer you a deadly poison, give him the choicest honey in exchange; and should he threaten your life, grant him a remedy that will heal him evermore. Should he be pain itself, be ye his medicine; should he be thorns, be ye his roses and sweet herbs. Perchance such ways and words from you will make this darksome world turn bright at last; will make this dusty earth turn heavenly, this devilish prison place become a royal palace of the Lord—so that war and strife will pass and be no more, and love and trust will pitch their tents on the summits of the world. Such is the essence of God’s admonitions; such in sum are the teachings for the Dispensation of Bahá..." Bahá'í Reference Library - Selections From the Writings of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, Pages 33-34

God Bless and Regards Tony

Better not spend too much time on internet forums. They aren't the best place for fruitful social interaction.

Yes you are correct they are mostly for some places of warfare.

But dear friend this is exactly I feel the place for those who have the skills, to engage with love and compassion.
Sadly with my health I tend to get frustrated with deliberate baiting, so find it wise to stay away, but I know of some who have great skills, and I encourage and praise their efforts.

Love to you

I feel also dear Jim it does not help for others to rush to ones defense.

If someone malign you in a forum, it is to your blessing and to their detriment, it does not need any response.

That's what I thought, Aidan. Thank you for asking what ETA means on the forum...

Once in another forum, I wrote "Edited to add," and I was gently admonished by a moderator that the proper way to write it was "ETA."
