Quote From the 1 March Message of the UHJ

Every choice a Baha'i makes--as employee or employer, producer or consumer, borrower or lender, benefactor or beneficiary--leaves a trace, and the moral duty to lead a coherent life demands that one's economic decisions be in accordance with lofty ideals, that the purity of one's aims be matched by the purity of one's actions to fulfil those aims. Naturally, the friends habitually look to the teachings to set the standard to which to aspire.

Indeed, indeed. And it's been true all the time. And we talk so little about it.

In this spirit, I finished a document that I sent to a Court of Appeal, on behalf of a little boy, at the same time underlining that the behaviour of some public employees in this case has been outrageous and should lead to disciplinary measures.

Yes it is a very timely message to which all people will get a lot of thoughts from to consider.

Interestingly it is why I personally was unable to continue with the job I had in the Solomon Islands. We must live the lofty ideals we have been called forward to show mankind as a new race of men. If by doing this we have to find another path in life, then it must be done.

There are moments when I really love the UHJ. Some of their messages are wonderful.

And the key quote in that message is

The beloved Guardian has given us the following guidelines in letters written on his behalf. “Much as the friends must guard against in any way ever seeming to identify themselves or the Cause with any political party, they must also guard against the other extreme of never taking part with other progressive groups, in conferences or committees designed to promote some activity in entire accord with our teachings—such as, for instance, better race relations.”

Yes, indeed, we have excellent guidance, if we just make an effort to look for it.
