Qurratu’l-‘ayn

Allaho Abha all my dear friends.

Do you think this quote by Bab, can be a reference, first to the martyrdom of Tahere and then to the day when She abolished the law of Hejab in Islam?

The quote is this:

O QURRATU’L-‘AYN! Stretch not Thy hands wide open in the Cause, inasmuch as the people would find themselves in a state of stupor by reason of the Mystery, and I swear by the true, Almighty God that there is yet for Thee another turn after this Dispensation.
And when the appointed hour hath struck, do Thou, by the leave of God, the All-Wise, reveal from the heights of the Most Lofty and Mystic Mount a faint, an infinitesimal glimmer of Thy impenetrable Mystery, that they who have recognized the radiance of the Sinaic Splendor may faint away and die as they catch a lightning glimpse of the fierce and crimson Light that envelops Thy Revelation. And God is, in very truth, Thine unfailing Protector.

Maryamr,

The writings of the Bab use this expression "qurat'ul-'ayn (solace of the eyes) numerously, and while I cannot say it doesn't refer to Taherih, as you suggest, this expression is generally accepted as referring to the Bab himself.

that is an interesting explanation. upon which references ""Qurat'ul-'ayn" is considered to be Bab Himself, may I ask?

For example:

"O QURRATU’L-‘AYN! Say: Verily I am the One Who is hailed in the Mother Book as the ‘Great Announcement’. Say: The people have grievously differed over Me, whereas in truth there is no difference between Me and the Báb; and God, the Eternal Truth, is sufficient witness." Chapter LXXVII.

Here is a link to a number of passages where God addresses the Bab by this title:

It can be confusing realizing when something in Arabic is a proper noun or not, but although Qurratu'l ayn is one of the titles ie proper name of Tahirih, it is also an expression and a figure of speech that literally means "solace of the eye." In the writings of the Bab God frequently addresses the Bab as "solace of the eye" and is an expression of endearment and adoration.

Cheers

Maryamr, I can't pull out of my memory where this is exactly, but have read it several times, perhaps in references from "Selections From the Writings of the Bab"

It is true that Qurat'ul-'ayn applies to the Bab Himself in these references, and when it says: You will have another term, this applies to His "reappearance in Baha'u'llah", inasmuch as Baha'u'llah refers to the Bab as His former appearance.
