Respecting your parents. But what about respecting your children?

Hi. I just wanted to talk about a topic today. I think judaism, christianity, islam and the baha'i faith all talk about respecting and honouring your parents. But what if the parents are not respectable and dishonourable? What if it's the parents that's doing wrong, disrespecting and dishonouring their children? I was wondering did all the faiths pushed the idea of children respecting their parents more than parents respecting their children, if so why? I was wondering because isn't the truth is that we're supposed to respect every human being no matter who they are? I was kind of thinking that technically maybe it whould be more critical that the parents respect their children for the simple fact that the children has to be raised correctly. When you have a child you're not simply having a baby, you are putting another human being into society. When children are small and they don't understand the world around them they look to their parents. To small children who don't understand and can't defend themselves, they look at their parents as "God". So if the parents wants to be evil against their children maybe the children will be confused and think "God" has betrayed and forsaken me. And could possibly stick with the child all the way into adult hood. Especially if that evil used religion and spirituality, then when the child becomes an adult they may not trust any religion or spirituality.

Any thoughts.

It is obvious that parenthood is the important factor.

To me we should concentrate on what it is to be a good parent as this ability is not adequately taught to children.
