I'm not Baha'i. I do have a ton of questions for those who are, as it does sound interesting. First off, do you call them churches or temples...and do you have them in Pittsburgh, PA? (I'm not in PA, but will visit there soon). What can I expect if I attend a service? |

Japan, huh - are you in Japan now? If so, you should look up the Baha'is there and then when you get to Pittsburgh you will have something to compare. Around here (New Mexico) we call places where we worship homes! That is, most folks meet in each others' homes. A few communities are able to afford a separate building which we call a center. To call them churches (and some of these buildings once were) or temples would be okay, though we don't use those terms amongst ourselves. I would assume by the size of Pittsburgh that it does have a center. Hopefully someone from that area will respond with better information. I did do a quick google search and found their site: The Bahá'i Faith of Pittsburgh which should give you addresses, both physical and e-mail. What should you expect? Prayers and more prayers. Sometimes they will be only from the Baha'i Writings and sometimes there will be a mix of other Faiths. Most devotionals end with an offer to those attending to include any prayers they wish to and they are open to any who wish to attend. Well, that's a start -- keep the questions coming....... michael |
