Unhappy Help with the fast- very senstive stomach!

Hi all,

Well, this is my second Fast, and last one was kind of bad, but this one is really putting my tummy through the ringer. See, I never eat breakfast because it has always made me sick. Heck, I even woke up sick this morning, I think my tummy has just decided to start an organ revolution against me here, haha!

When I ate eggs the first time, didn't seem to have a problem, when I ate them them again, still got sick. My husband is in the process of making them for me again, with some toast, and a little bit of oatmeal. I've tried fruit, I've even tried left overs. It seems like everything I put into my tummy makes it hate me. I have not vomited, but I feel like I'd like to.

Last night when I broke fast I think I ate too fast or something, also, and got sick then too!! Argh! It's just frustrating! I'm fine throughout the day, it's just when I eat in the mornings, or when I get to excited and forget to chew my food (haha) at night.

So, any tips and tricks? And, I have tried digestive yogurt, but it's hard to eat as I don't like yogurt and the fact that my husband is stealing the kind I bought for me... grrr! Any help is appreciated!!

This is not a problem I have come up against. I hope my suggestions are helpful:

Have you consulted a doctor, to check you health? If you health is OK, maybe you need to get up earlier to give your body time to wake up. Also, as you are clearly female and married, have you considered morning sickness? If you are pregnant, stop fasting.

My thoughts are with you. I have not had this problem but have learned over the years that sometimes I need to listen to my body and get problems checked out.

One thing you might try if you don't like just eating yoghurt: mix it with water and have it over ice. I like eating yoghurt this way much more.

Otherwise, I'd ask your doctor if he thinks you should be fasting.

I don't usually eat breakfast during the fast for two reasons: makes my stomach feel off a lot of the time, and also makes it harder to hydrate (which for me is a much bigger problem than the hunger). Also, if you are dehydrated that can cause upset stomach when you eat, so you might try focusing on hydration before eating...but I'm no doctor, and it sounds like good advice to consult with yours if you can. Hope you get it figured out!

On braking the fast in early evening do so gradually.. that is start with some soup and bread .. and gradually eat more later.. The tendency could be to eat too much too fast as you've reported and upset your tummy..

As far as breakfast goes.. eggs may not be for you..Yes they have protein but the important thing is to be sure you're hydrated before sunrise.. so start drinking say orange juice and maybe have some oatmeal..

The issue for you might be one of habit as your tummy is not used to breakfast anyway..

Yes fasting can affect your temperment during the day and make you more irritable but use the lunch hour for quiet reflection and prayer..
