Allah'u'abha! As rightly stated alcohol is forbidden to Baha'is but then many come into the Baha'i Faith faced with what is a considerably difficult prospect: a permanent view to giving up alcohol. According to recovery groups this is not necessarily the ideal means (in terms of approaching a permanent prospect) to recovery for alcoholics or other addicts since the principles of recovery are built on a day-to-day working basis. For those who still suffer, I have found AA, other 12 step groups and the Faith to be highly compatible. For information's sake, I would like to offer this link from the Universal House of Justice on the A.A. program: UHJ letter: alcoholics.anonymous.html With love and well-wishing to all. Maybe the Bahá’í Network on Aids, Sexuality, Addictions and Abuse would be of help to you or to others. Here is the web site address: BNASAA - Bahá?í Network on AIDS, Sexuality, Addictions and Abuse There are several compilations of Baha'i quotations on the web site, including one about addictions. |
