This is the best way to debate, Not mentioning personal history as it has no bearing to the conversation at hand. Not my history or yours, stick witht he topic, not me or yourself.

But I have no interest in debating on the phone, but on text, which can be edited, and carefully thought out before a responce thus you get a more detailed debate. So please deal with the subject you brought up, the definition of Christian, or stop. Its painful.
Yep that's what I thought you'd say - so go enjoy yourself with the others - you and I have nothing more to say to each other.

Don't worry I will. But I personally hope you will continue to respond to me, but please if you do, stick with the topic, don't focuse on me. This is a sincere reccomendation.

Any religious Doctrine that rejects the message given by Baha'u'llah is incorrect/wrong.

The original pure writings of the Religion are not, just the interpretations given to them in the past. Antone that made/supports those interpretations are likewise wrong.

Second, I understand the three main ideas of Baha'i Faith, as well as the obligatory daily prayer, the Manifestations of God, etc. But I don't know how I'll manage expanding my knowledge of Baha'i faith due to the problems explained earlier, nor how to unofficially become a Baha'i in my actions, words, and thoughts. I'm still thinking like a Christian, and I already understand what I need to do, say, or think, but I don't know how to start. Am I getting confusing?

Third, I've still got this old, Christian feeling in my head that's saying that I need to rethink this commitment. I already know that I wish to be a Baha'i, because Baha'i Faith's philosophies and ideas agree with my own. How do I get rid of this feeling, if I can?

Thank you so much for your help and understanding, as this is a very complicated time in my life.

Welcome to the never ending search for truth :lol

You will find over the years that the mind will always throw in a few challenges (I became a Baha'i in 1982 from a Christian background). I like to think tests are a gift because we have accepted the message. The writings say that tests of Faith are a reward. These thoughts enter our mind so we can ask the question, study and find the answer. This process helps us get to know ourselves, thus God better. :wink

The secret in life is finding the balance and not becoming extreme in anything you do. It all is done one step at a time. When we find a truth, we then have to adapt it to our lives, if we do not, more tests will be our reward :cool

I think what the world needs most of all and right now, is Unity, so in my opinion this would be the best thing to talk to people about with the Baha'i Faith. So read up about and study progressive revelation. This is the basis the world will need to become one in Faith. I think good books for me to to read were William Sears "God Loves Laughter" and "Thief in the night"

The other thing you need to know and study is the Covenant of the Baha'i Faith. Understanding this aspect of the Faith is very very important to us spiritually.

Lastly - This thread is a good indication why you give the message and if it is accepted all is good, if not leave them to themselves.

I think the writings are clear on this subject - Differing Opinions are great and a clash of Opinions is a must for truth to be found. But the secret there is that you throw your opinion into the debate and let it go It will then be discussed along with all other opinions. If this is done correctly truth is found.

Arguing is not letting go of that opinion and the way I see it it is repeating the discussion on the same subject using the opinion over and over.

Using the pure word is not argument. An example is this - Someone asks us about the Trinity. We give the Writings of Baha'u'llah or Abdul'Baha as an example in answer. There is nothing more we can add to this, so if the person then argues about the answer we can do no more but move to another topic, to go further is when we have entered into an argument and we both are wrong. Question asked - Pure writing answer given - Not accepted - Move on. To debate is argument and useless.

Hope this is of some help & best of luck in the Future - the Faith is very rewarding and as the years roll out there are many tests to be faced - Enjoy them as a reward :wub

Cheers Tony
