Question bunker underneath the Bahai temple

Why does the Baha'i temple in Israel have seven floors of bunker located underneath it?

First off, there IS no Baha'i temple in Israel yet!! There's a site about a mile away from the terraces of the Baha'i World Center presently holding only an obelisk that WILL SOMEDAY contain a Baha'i temple (no date has been set).

Nor does the Shrine of the Bab (which you mistakenly call a "temple" have underground stories! The only structures underground in it are the tombs, and these are immediately below ground level.

The buildings that DO have seven to ten stories underground are along the Arc southeast of the temple, in particular the Center for the Study of the Texts and the International Teaching Center. And these are simply office levels used every day by the staff there; there is no "bunker." The reason most of the structures was put underground was to preserve the esthetic appearance of the upper portion of the buildings in relation to each other, rather than ruining the appearance of the area by inserting a skyscraper next to the historic two- and three-story buildings already present.

Simple as that.

So I humbly suggest you not be so quick to adopt the wild accusations you might find on various anti-Baha'i sites.

Peace, :-)

Bruce

Thanks Bruce for the clarification!

What Bruce said. Much better for the landscape and the skyline to build down than to build up.

No death ray is being constructed for world domination...
