His exhausting yet exhilarating 239-day trek from coast to coast took him to fifty cities and towns, where he delivered up to four talks a day—about four hundred total—to approximately ninety-three thousand people on Bahá’u’lláh’s message of the oneness of humanity and the principles of universal peace. The following books have been out there for awhile but they are still good! and from Kalimat Press: MOMENTS WITH BAHÁ'U'LLÁH: Memoirs of the Hand of the Cause of God Tarázu'lláh Samandarí Translated by Mehdi Samandarí and Marzieh Gail The Hand of the Cause Tarázu'lláh Samandarí, while he was still a teenager, undertook his first pilgrimage--having many occasions to come into the presence of Bahá'u'lláh. He afterwards recounted the stories of this pilgrimage hundreds of times, to the delight and astonishment of believers around the world. Here, for the first time, his stories are presented in written form. Mr. Samandarí was in the Holy Land during the last months of Bahá'u'lláh's life. He was present during the revelation of Tablets and verses. He accompanied Bahá'u'lláh on visits to the Garden of Ridván, and he was present at the time of Bahá'u'lláh's ascension. Discover these and other sweet and bitter stories in this charming and inspirational book. Illustrated. Retail price: $14.95, cloth (94-4) MY MEMORIES OF BAHÁ'U'LLÁH By Ustád Muhammad-'Alíy-i Salmání, the Barber; Translated by Marzieh Gail When Bahá'u'lláh was banished from Baghdad in 1863, a few steadfast companions were chosen to accompany Him in this new exile. Among these was Ustád Muhammad-'Alíy-i Salmání, who served as his barber. In this short memoir Salmání tells his story and gives us a precious and intimate glimpse of the beginnings of the Bahá'í Faith. He begins with his early conversion to the Bábí Faith in Isfahan, his persecution in that city, and his discovery of Bahá'u'lláh in Baghdad. He tells us of the march from Baghdad to Istanbul, and of the life of the exiles in the Ottoman capital. He recounts the story of the further banishment to Edirne (Adrianople), and the troubles experienced there. Sent to Istanbul by his Lord, Salmání was arrested and returned to Iran in chains. But his love for Bahá'u'lláh could not be contained. He immediately made his way on foot to 'Akká to share the imprisonment there. Salmání was a rough and simple man. His memories of life with Bahá'u'lláh wander from episode to episode, and should be understood to be nothing more than his own fascinating pilgrim notes. Together they give us a powerful appreciation of his devotion to his Beloved. The selection of the barber's poems, translated at the end of the book, allows us to experience something of the joy of nearness that he knew. Retail price: $16.95, paperback (14-2) MOMENTS WITH BAH'U'LLH: Memoirs of the Hand of the Cause of God Tarzu'llh Samandar |

"A compilation from the writings of early Muslim chronicles abridged and simplified by Jamshid Monajem. The narratives given in the book are intended to give the reader, on the one hand, a glimpse of life in Arabia before the advent of the Apostle of God – the superstitious beliefs and practices that were prevalent in that land, the people’s inordinate pride and reverence of lineage, excessive loyalty to one’s clan, their crude manners, total absence of central administration and machinery for the execution of justice – and, on the other, the incredibly rapid transformation that took place in the moral, political, economic and cultural life of the people as a result of Muhammad’s unwavering adherence to the truth, His teaching efforts and the laws and ordinances that He enacted in the course of twenty-three years of his ministry." This volume spans the years 1923 - 1953, beginning with the early ministry of the Guardian and the pilgrimage of May and her daughter in 1923/4. It describes Mary's education as a young Bahá'í, her pilgrimage during her adolescence and the growth of the youth movement in Montreal, as well as the family's services to the Bahá'í Faith in Canada and the United States during the 1920s and 30s. It then moves to Europe, where May in France and Mary in Germany contributed to the advancement of these Bahá'í communities between 1935 and 1937. But in 1937 Mary's marriage to Shoghi Effendi changed the lives of the family forever. As Amatu'l-Bahá Rúhiyyih Khánum she would be called to extraordinary heights of service and sacrifice. The final part of this book (Late Years) gives an account of May's heroic services before her passing in Argentina in 1940, and describes Sutherland's remarkable architectural achievement as architect of the Shrine of the Báb during his final years in the Holy Land. The world will be destroyed by an angel blowing a trumpet as wild beasts, marauding cannibals and one-eyed monsters terrorize the people. Is any of this likely to happen? How can we explain these expectations? What will the end of the world be like? Walied Jassat explores the prophecies of the end times found in the Qur’án, hadíth and other scriptures and looks beyond their literal meaning to the symbolic and profoundly spiritual. He searches for the fulfillment of the promise of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that Jesus will return and establish peace on earth – and shares a remarkable discovery." The Last Day |

This collection contains writings from Baha'u'llah, the Bab, and 'Abdu'l-Baha. To follow the teachings and observe the laws prescribed by the Manifestation of God for the day in which we live is, from a Baha'i perspective, to fulfill a major part of our duty as human beings and to align ourselves with the divine guidance available to us. This book provides scriptural and historical evidence for commonalities in the lives, characters, and teachings of the central figures of seven world religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Zorastrianism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam and the Baha'i Faith, from the sources of each religious tradition, including the Bhagavad Gita, the Dhammapadha, the Gathas, the Hebrew Bible, the Gospels, the Quran, and the Writings of Baha'u'llah. It is bound to generate interest in the subject and further the cause of interfaith dialogue and understanding throughout the world. Divine Educators |

It apppeared under the "Spiritual Growth" category around p. 174 in the 2002 edition but was not included in the 2009 reprint. The prayer apparently lacked authenticity...that is, they couldn't find where Abdul-Baha had actually enscribed it in any Tablets.. so the new edition doesn't have that prayer. The publishing trust in the U.S. has a policy of printing only authenticated prayers ... now that differs with other publishing trusts.. take the Remembrance of God prayerbook published in India... different story. Now my info. comes from a person who is fairly close to the distribution service.. but I have yet to see it in print. |

Offered by George Ronald: Lighting the Western Sky The Hearst Pilgrimage & Establishment of the Bahá’í Faith in the West by Kathryn Jewett Hogenson Soft Cover ISBN: 978-0-85398-543-3 Description: Never before told in its entirety – here is the story of the first pilgrimage of Western Bahá’ís to the Holy Land. That journey of fifteen souls during the winter of 1898–1899 has come to be recognized as a pivotal event in the history of the Bahá’í Faith; more than a pilgrimage – a turning point that would have far-reaching implications many centuries into the future for millions of people. Based on all available sources, including handwritten journals and letters never previously published, this story is not a mere recounting of history, it is a tale that inspires and instructs. Those privileged to take part in the first Western pilgrimage were, in the main, ordinary people with extraordinary spiritual insight. With almost no resources available to them, they took what they gained from their time in the Holy Land, established the Faith in Europe and reestablished the American Bahá’í community on a rock-solid foundation. Above all, the Hearst pilgrimage provides a brief glimpse of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá Himself and how patiently and lovingly He nurtured those from America and Europe whose religious background and ethnic culture were so different from the main body of Eastern believers at the time. The lessons he taught during that winter, the messages he conveyed, still resonate today, for he saw the end in the beginning. These were not simply fifteen pilgrims; they were the vanguard of waves of the whole of humanity. Their achievements will remain an inspiration to all future generations.
