What do you think are some of the best topics to cover when you have an opportunity to introduce a group of people to the faith? I have a few in mind but I'd like to see what you all think. I've been given the chance to talk about the faith in one of my classes and I want to do it well.

I would not use the words progressive revelation persay but I would explain how God sends prophets to man to guide them and every time the world is a human body and needs a competant physician as analogy. How the world is becoming globalized or has become in the last 100 years. A bit about Baha'u'llah and his family origin and his general message depending on how much time you have. Perhaps also something about Shia islam to set the backdrop and give them the context but if they are from a Christian background then maybe something on how it relates to Christianity is better. Also some prophecies about the golden age to show what Bahais are tyring to do/ work towards is nice. Personally I would try to be 'preachy' as little as possible. Even some quotes from book one like "betterment of the world can be accomplished through pure and goodly deads, through commendably and seemly conduct" would be good cos it is general or a hidden word. And I prob missed some things here but Im sure others can give you some ideas. |

Well a couple of things come to mind.. There's a man who has been seeking the Faith lately for ohh a few weeks or so.. and of course knowing what's important to him is essential .. He mentioned the phrase "The Kingdom of God is within you" more than once and he likes Leo Tolstoy..so we talked about that and I mentioned that Leo Tolstoy knew of the Baha'i Faith, corresponded with a Baha'i and commended Baha'u'llah. So this had an affect on him this evening at our devotional meeting. Another man just lost his wife a few weeks ago so we had prayers and talked about the after-life... Each seeker is unique and we need to address whatever needs they have in some fashion or other.. Relaxing and having refreshments is important as well. |
