Why are the Bahais satisfied with such shallow conversations?

Why?
I mean is Baha'u'llah himself the only one capable of going deeper than the obvious and possessing spiritual insight and all the other Bahais are just robots not using their brain or insight?

haha
we are simply humans trying to learn.

bahaullah is the guide which we follow in darkness to reach the horizon of truth and wisdom which he promised us.
so we follow (like robots) for we trust him.

and for not being able to carry deep conversations, i know some bahais who can, so lets not generalize, as for me, i cant because i know nothing, still trying to learn. (trying to learn, not learning).

Well, the analogy that I can think of, is the Sun being the source of light, while everyone else gets his light from the Sun to various degrees. Although in Baha'i Faith there is quite freedom of thinking and interpretation, but only the Holy Texts are considered infallible.

I think part of the answer might be that some people love beauty in simplicity, while others are more intrigued by the threads that run underneath the surface and regardless how much beauty they find looking at the surface of the still lake yearn for the understanding of what swims underneath.

I think if someone can be at perfect peace with just the surface then perhaps that is what is perfect for them, while the other who finds serenity and enlightenment through yearning for more perhaps that is indeed what is best for that individual.

I myself may enjoy staring at a beautiful painting but eventually I'm going to start questioning the moods of the individual strokes and the purpose behind the colors.

I'm not sure if that's where you were headed with this thread, but at anyrate it's how I responded.

Elaborate, my friend. Example?

Perhaps I know where you may be going--I've seen (many) cases where a discussion will occur, and one person will just walk out, get a book of letters from the Universal House of Justice or a quote from Abdul-Baha, and just say

"Here is what it says. So there. End of story, forever." Regardless of how insightful the conversation had been, or the differing viewpoints.

This ^^ bothers me. But perhaps you were speaking of another issue?

Because Baha'u'llah is not just a Baha'i.

Good one Essence of God.

Try not to be too unforgiving of others LoG. I find that the less we expect from those apart from ourselves, the happier we will be. One of the Hidden Words says that all of us know our own self better than (we) knoweth others.

I know some wonderful baha'is. Are they perfect? Probably not, but then neither am I. But I believe they are trying their best, and are sincere people.

I asked forgiveness from Baha'u'llah for using his name like that last night. Can you believe it. I created this thread out of frustration. This is one of the first times ive sinned like this against Baha'u'llah and all cos people forcing my hand by ruining my threads.

Im talking about this sortof thing...

Wherefore, O ye friends of God, redouble your efforts, strain every nerve, till ye triumph in your servitude to the Ancient Beauty, the Manifest Light, and become the cause of spreading far and wide the rays of the Day-Star of Truth. Breathe ye into the world's worn and wasted body the fresh breath of life, and in the furrows of every region sow ye holy seed. Rise up to champion this Cause; open your lips and teach. In the meeting place of life be ye a guiding candle; in the skies of this world be dazzling stars; in the gardens of unity be birds of the spirit, singing of inner truths and mysteries.

O MY BROTHER!
Hearken to the delightsome words of My honeyed tongue, and quaff the stream of mystic holiness from My sugar-shedding lips. Sow the seeds of My divine wisdom in the pure soil of thy heart, and water them with the water of certitude, that the hyacinths of My knowledge and wisdom may spring up fresh and green in the sacred city of thy heart.

(Baha'u'llah, The Persian Hidden Words)

All the texts and teachings of the holy Testaments have intrinsic spiritual meanings. They are not to be taken literally. I, therefore, pray in your behalf that you may be given the power of understanding these inner real meanings of the Holy Scriptures and may become informed of the mysteries deposited in the words of the Bible so that you may attain eternal life and that your hearts may be attracted to the Kingdom of God. May your souls be illumined by the light of the Words of God, and may you become repositories of the mysteries of God, for no comfort is greater and no happiness is sweeter than spiritual comprehension of the divine teachings. If a man understands the real meaning of a poet's verses such as those of Shakespeare, he is pleased and rejoiced. How much greater his joy and pleasure when he perceives the reality of the Holy Scriptures and becomes informed of the mysteries of the Kingdom!
(Abdu'l-Baha, The Promulgation of Universal Peace, p. 459)

I agree. I have fallen into the trap of pulling out letters LoL. I am trying to be more honest lately. I know talk about battling with God and struggles with the faith. Overall it has lead to quite a few really deep side conversations.
