What do Baha'i believe about telepathy? Are their any scriptures on this? I used to be a follower of Nithyananda the yogi, and watch his videos on youtube. I discovered that by praying strongly for him to answer a certain question, he would address it in the next few days and put it online. He's a follower of Hinduism which seems to embrace telepathy. After this discovery I've observed closely the effects of prayer, and notice that praying to a certain name seems to connect me to the relevant energy field of spiritual information. For example if I pray to Buddha I'm given very logical insight to my problems, and Jesus gives heartfelt insight. Not only are the answers different, but when I focus strongly when praying I can hear a strong ringing sound, and this sound changes pitch when praying to different beings. So I've concluded, unwillingly due to insecurities of sanity, that prayer creates and gives access to a large energy field, probably electromagnetic, and is probably what we call the holy spirit. What do you guys think? |

After all we use very little of an amazing Brain! The teachings bear no reference to the question of telepathy. It is a matter that concerns psychology. (Shoghi Effendi, Lights of Guidance, p. 516) The whole purpose of life in the material world is the coming forth into the world of Reality where psychic forces will become active. Practices such as intercourse with spirits of the departed, telepathy, etc., ought not to be indulged in either for curiosity or for their own sake. Shoghi Effendi explains that such powers "…should be left dormant, and not exploited, even when we do so with the sincere belief we are helping others. We do not understand their nature and have no way of being sure of what is true and what is false in such matters." He adds, "If children are inclined to be psychic they should not be blamed for it too harshly; they should not be encouraged to strengthen their powers in this direction."5 In most cases, psychic phenomena indicate deep psychological disturbance, and we should avoid giving undue consideration to such matters. He replied: It is evident. If a lover holds the hand of a beloved, it is obvious what feelings ensue. They communicate face to face and speak heart to heart, as this light is communicating now with human eyes, the sun with the earth, the cloud with the land and the breeze with the tree. This process is found in all things. Regards Tony | |

We are to be careful though, as we would not know what we would be tapping into if we use them. I think the writings reflect that is not a path to follow at this time. Who know what it will be like after the next Manifestation, it could be we have reach a stage where we may be able to tap into these sources? If you read the spiritual context behind this passage...well it is very interesting Selections From the Writings of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá O servant of Bahá! Be self-sacrificing in the path of God, and wing thy flight unto the heavens of the love of the Abhá Beauty, for any movement animated by love moveth from the periphery to the centre, from space to the Day-Star of the universe. Perchance thou deemest this to be difficult, but I tell thee that such cannot be the case, for when the motivating and guiding power is the divine force of magnetism it is possible, by its aid, to traverse time and space easily and swiftly. Glory be upon the people of Bahá. Regards Tony |
