What is it??? ------ He yieldeth no remedy but death, he walketh not save in the valley of the shadow; yet sweeter than honey is his venom on the lover's lips, and fairer his destruction in the seeker's eyes than a hundred thousand lives. (Baha'u'llah, The Seven Valleys, p. 10) -------- I have my suspicions but i want others to tell me if they think they know. This would be a huge favour to me in helping solve perhaps one of my issues... |

I read the Valley this came from, and I can't help but think that what is referred to here is Love, and specifically the power it has over men. We have crazy, irrational reactions to it. I have to say I love this part "yet sweeter than honey is his venom on the lover's lips". Oh yes...oh yes. |

Ha, no if you'd asked me I would say I am mystically-challenged. A few other challenges as well, no doubt. If I had to pick something that resembled me, it would be the learned grammarian who can't just jump into the water to cross into the valley of Love. That's a pretty humbling thought. |

Seriously, we all need to stretch our minds about the Writings, just because the most popular answers and themes seem to be what we know, it doesn't mean it's correct. The Words of God have innumerable significances and mysteries of meanings -- each one a thousand and more. (Abdu'l-Baha, The Promulgation of Universal Peace, p. 155) We don't always know what we think we know. | |
