Just now I'm reading the scripture of Baha'ullah, and I felt a pang of doubt pass through my mind regarding the authenticity of the Baha'i faith. Calmly I reassured myself of the reasons why I believe Baha'i to be a true faith, then I decided to share these things with you: My first reason, divine timing: I had heard of the Baha'i faith but never looked into it seriously, however after researching other religions I concluded the new manifestation should appear at the beginning of the new age. After meditating on this I concluded that the new age began in the 1800's, because the spiritual and materialistic world changed so significantly during this period. Then I remembered Baha'i and thought perhaps this is the true religion, time to do some research. The second reason, the scripture: My first investigation was to read the scripture and I was amazed by the profound deliverance, accuracy and relevance of the Baha'i scripture. The third reason, the spirit: I decided to pray to the spirit of Baha'i as my confidence in its authenticity grew, and its purity and power exalted me in ways that other spirits had no authority. These first three reasons took my mind beyond reasonable doubt though their are many other minor reasons that I won't bore you with. Why do you believe or not believe in the Baha'i faith? As hard as it may be for some to believe, in light of my posts, I am one of those who is completely in awe of the social teachings of Baha'u'llah. The mission of the Faith is Unity, a New World Order, an acceptance of Diversity. What is this new world order? What does it mean? Baha'u'llah over and over and over again calls for equality, to an unambiguous egalitarian point, of course that does not mean that everyone is "the same", it means that everyone is just as important as everyone else. My previous signature was about how egotism was the greatest veil, and now it is about how the world has become desolate due to the ranking, stationing, distinction, and preferential categorization of people. THIS IS EXACTLY what the world needs right now. We are dying amidst a hierarchical model of ranking people, we let the poor suffer because we think they are less valuable than the rich, we let the egotists spout their venom because we think ego is a sign of authority. We don't even have to mention the role of race, this is another heirarchical ranking that Baha'u'llah has already exposed as being HIGHLY destructive. Yes, we may all be different, but that difference is to be embraced, but at the same time not ranked according to importance. I always remind myself about the sanitation workers and doctors. Who is more valuable? Do you realize the diseases that would run rampant if we did not have sanitation workers, the amount of deaths? No amount of doctors could stop it. Yet we hold doctors in high esteem, and look down at the janitor, the trash collector, and the sewer worker. If it wasn't for them, the dark ages would return, and then we would be no more. |

I don't believe in communism either. I think it does demotivate people, but being that poor and that degraded ALSO demotivates people. We have to constantly remind ourselves what the New World Order really is, I think it helps us with our sanity and dealing with this world day to day. Of course, there are many reasons I truly believe in Baha'u'llah, but that doesn't mean I am ever without question, doubt, or disappointment. And normally I can trace that back to how the Faith is being expressed rather than what is Written. |

As a former Twelver, it was the Bab who led me to Bahuallah. I testified to numerous Twelver prophecies that the Bab had fulfilled which seemed more than a coincidence.

When I read a listing of the basic principles of the Faith for the first time, I was captivated by them. The principles and the teachings made so much sense to me. And then I started reading the writings of Baha'u'llah and 'Abdu'l-Baha, and I knew that They were promulgating the truth. It just felt so right, it made so much sense, it had to be true.

I suppose for me it was the history of the Faith from the declaration of the Bab..His martyrdom and the life of Baha'u'llah. When I first became a Baha'i it was also through agreeing with the teachings of the Faith ... but learning that there was a real experience behind it clinched it for me.... |
