The Valley of Unity

I have some good things to report for my Bahaiforums family. First, my wife of 15 years has declared as a Baha'i after being raised in Buddhist/Taoist Taiwan, then studying Buddhism and meditation intensively in recent years, then becoming interested and inspired by Chrisitanity and Christian communities.

At my wife's suggestion, our family has been attending a local church as well as being fully engaged with the local Baha'i community and practicing the Faith daily. I was a bit hesitant about going to church, but I am very glad we are doing that now, and giving our kids the exposure to it. They also are in a Baha'i junior youth group and are at an age where they can figure things out.

Since we had moved to a new city, we have been having daily family prayer and meditation every night. We also are hosting a Baha'i devotional gathering every couple of weeks, and that is really an extension of our family devotions, just inviting the rest of the community, having a program and serving refreshments. Our family prayers are the foundation.

Then, we launched a blog: valleyofunity.org you can all check it out and read if you find it inspires you, although the intention was to be primarily a local resource and a way of teaching our own extended family and friends who are scattered around the world.

The initial blog posts at valleyofunity.org have focused mainly on my wife's spiritual journey blending Buddhist, Christian and Baha'i teachings, with quotes from many faiths. She is also planning to launch a Chinese version of valleyofunity on Facebook, not a translation but a different version for our Chinese friends and family.

Let us know what you think

Greetings Jcc,

Truly this is wonderful news. It will transform your family life. There is no better person in which to serve than your spouse and her acceptance of the Faith is a reflection of your own dedication towards it.

Together you will become much stronger and, as strange as it might appear, you will also develop some different understandings of the Faith too because you will now have two minds rather than one. This will make you far less susceptible to any bombast and hyperbole that circulates around the Bahá'í Community from time to time.

It is certainly wise to continue meetings with her former religious friends and enjoying their company in all respects.

The dynamic thing with a spouse accepting the Faith is there is rarely any competition between both partners. In time you will come to understand just how strong this can make you as a couple.

Be assured of my most heartfelt prayers.

A very nicely designed site, and I love the name (because it references my favorite chapter of my favorite book, the part of the Seven Valleys where the book goes from being an awesome book to an unparalleled book)
