Occasionally I'd like to offer a few excerpts from the Writings for meditation/contemplation: How great the difference between the condition of these people and the station of such valiant souls as have passed beyond the sea of names and pitched their tents upon the shores of the ocean of detachment. Indeed none but a few of the existing generation hath yet earned the merit of hearkening unto the warblings of the doves of the all-highest Paradise. 'Few of My servants are truly thankful.'[2] People for the most part delight in superstitions. They regard a single drop of the sea of delusion as preferable to an ocean of certitude. By holding fast unto names they deprive themselves of the inner reality and by clinging to vain imaginings they are kept back from the Dayspring of heavenly signs. God grant you may be graciously aided under all conditions to shatter the idols of superstition and to tear away the veils of the imaginations of men. Authority lieth in the grasp of God, the Fountainhead of revelation and inspiration and the Lord of the Day of Resurrection. Baha'u'llah, Tablets of Baha'u'llah, p. 57 |

Know thou that a ladder hath been reared betwixt Us and men. It, verily, hath three degrees. The first remindeth of this world and the vanities thereof. The second is a reminder of the world beyond and whatsoever hath been ordained therein. The third representeth the kingdom of names. Whoso passeth beyond these stages shall, in less than the twinkling of an eye, attain unto Him Who is the King of all names and attributes. Beware, O people of Bahá, lest ye be impeded by these things. Pass beyond them aloof as a cloud. This indeed is what beseemeth Our well-favored servants!

O my Lord, I have not words enough to praise Thee, nor can the birds of meditation ever ascend to the Kingdom of Thy sanctity. Thou art, in Thine entity, sanctified from every praise and commendation, and art purified, in Thyself, from the thanksgiving of the people of emanation. Thou hast been eternally in the sanctity of Thyself exalted beyond the comprehension of the knowing among the Supreme Concourse, and Thou shalt be permanently in the purity of Thine essence, incomprehensible beyond the knowledge of the praisers among the dwellers in the exalted Realm of Might! ~ Abdu'l-Baha, Tablets of Abdu'l-Baha v2, p. 365 |

This Bird of Heaven, now dwelling upon the dust, can, besides these melodies, utter a myriad songs, and is able, apart from these utterances, to unfold innumerable mysteries. Every single note of its unpronounced utterances is immeasurably exalted above all that hath already been revealed, and immensely glorified beyond that which hath streamed from this Pen. Let the future disclose the hour when the Brides of inner meaning will, as decreed by the Will of God, hasten forth, unveiled, out of their mystic mansions, and manifest themselves in the ancient realm of being. Nothing whatsoever is possible without His permission; no power can endure save through His power, and there is none other God but He. His is the world of creation, and His the Cause of God. All proclaim His Revelation, and all unfold the mysteries of His Spirit. ~ Baha'u'llah, The Kitab-i-Iqan, p. 172 |
