Abdul'baha and spiritualists

About 1974 somewhere I think I read, I'm not sure and have not found it again, that Abdul'baha met with or spoke to spiritualists in America or Britain. These were people who believed in ghosts and attempting to contact the dead. (There was a factual basis for portrayals of Houdini debunking these people as frauds. I cannnot remember who, but one famous lady Baha'i had an equally famous Baha'i daughter and a spiritualist daughter who was not a Baha'i) Part of the reading I remember is I thought the Master explained to someone that there are people who relish being different more than they would value truth. IS ANYONE FAMILIAR WITH ABDUL'BAHA SAYING SOMETHING LIKE THIS? At long last only last night, WOW, did I remember that the context seemed to be the spiritualists. I have remembered this when faced with those reject faith without any thought whatsoever yet adhere to some very odd things.

An answer

"He is of the opinion that to pay much attention to persons who are imbued with spiritualistic ideas is rather useless, because what they have thought it has a germ of truth, has much of personal imagination added to it. Moreover, when after much effort they become Bahá'ís, they are reluctant to turn a completely new sheet in their life and begin to conceive Bahá'í ideals in spiritualistic terms. There are thousands of other pure souls who are more ready for the teachings and who would accept it unreservedly. So we had better concentrate our attention upon them. The Cause everywhere has suffered from spiritualists with psychic pretended powers, and it is high time to take a step along that line."

(Compilations, Lights of Guidance, p. 518)

I think this is what I saw, but at that time, I cannot imagine what I saw it in.................
