PLEASE ANNOUNCE FOR THE FEAST OF KALIMAT (WORDS) The Association of Baha’i Studies – North America Warmly invites you to participate in its 35th Annual Conference “TRANSFORMING HABITS OF THOUGHT” (Read the Conference Theme Statement at <http://www.bahaistudies.ca/statement>Theme Statement | Association for Bahá) August 11-14, 2011 At the San Francisco Airport Marriott Hotel San Francisco, CA Confirmed plenary speakers include Mr. Kenneth Bowers, Secretary of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of the United States; Dr. Hoda Mahmoudi, Director of the Research Department at the Bahá’í World Centre will speak on “Human Knowledge and the Emancipation of Humankind, and Dr. Billie Mayo, educator and specialist in cross-cultural and race issues will address “The Ubuntu Programme: Changing Habits of Thought and Practice around Race in the American Mid-West. Mr. Matt Weinberg, Program Director of the Bahá’í Internet Agency, at the Bahá’í World Centre will give a presentation on “Identity, Discourse and Policy: Reconstructing the Public Sphere.” Mr. Fariborz Sahba, architect of the famed “Lotus Temple” Bahá’í House of Worship in India will be speaking on “The Loving Interpretation of Space.” Mr. Rainn Wilson, actor and humanitarian, will share his experiences in the arts and entertainment worlds. The 29th Hasan M. Balyuzi Memorial Lecture will be delivered by Dr Nader Saiedi, Professor of Sociology at Carleton College, Northfield, Minnesota, and author of Logos and Civilization: Spirit, History, and Order in the Writings of Bahá’u’lláhand Gate of the Heart: Understanding the Writings of the Báb.
