Question Any Baha'is in Chicago???

Well....
When I registered as a new Baha'i on 2 Oct 2011, I was given two names to contact. One hasn't returned my voicemail, the other said she "closed the centre". Then I went online and submitted a request to contact other Baha'is in my area (Chicago). A man from the Baha'i Info Office called me, took down my snail-mail and email addresses. It's been two weeks since we spoke. NO ONE has contacted me.
Gee whizz, folks, how am I supposed to attend Gatherings, Study Groups, etc??? At least I have the Writings of Baha'u'llah to read and learn from. Must I *always* be alone??

ANY CHICAGO BAHA'IS OUT THERE???

Allahuabha and welcome to the forum.

Sorry for your experience. I am surprised about this. Maybe try going to the Baha'i center or call Baha'i center again and tell them you want to go to the feast and other gatherings.
Or tell the person who gave you the two contacts to give you info about the gatherings.

Wow. That is slightly surprising since the Bahai temple is in Chicago I would have thought it easy to contact Bahais. Here in Aus its easy where I am. Anyway I guess keep trying?

I'm not in Chicago but I've visited there.. You might check out the following:

The House of Worship is a little north of Chicago in Wilmette.. You can visit it via the "L" train. I've done this myself on a visit.

I would also call that 1-800-22 UNITE and explain your problems to them.

Well I am not surprised, we as Baha'is have a lot of need of improvement.
We are told in the writings that we should be far better than the old World Order, but realy we have a lot of learning to do.
I appologise to you friend, but remember the Faith is not the members or followers, we the followers are at all levels and are struggling to learn spiritual qualities. As Baha'u'llah instructed us not to look to the followers, but concentrate our vision etc on the Manisfestation and the Writings.
I trust that you will soon, receive the welcome to Feasts etc that you justly deserve.

Thank you all for your replies! I live not too far from the House of Worship in Wilmette, IL, where I registered as a Baha'i on 10.02.11. The man who gave me the 2 contacts has been notified via email about my situation (he is the Director there). I shall also go there this Friday, as I wish to purchase something for my birthday. (I'm gonna be 18 - for the thousandth time!)

At least I have books and the internet to help me with the Faith! I guess God is helping me along, too, eh?

Remember the tests I mentioned

I've been in the hospital or would have responded sooner. 2 email addresses is not enough. Fortunately you have made an act of faith and love to keep going on your own. We must do so under worse circumstances.

I had to delete more trash than I had email from my absence, so it can be stopped by spam filters and all kinds of things. YOU were very right to write. Baha'is do very good jobs at many things, probably too many, so I am so glad you have the sense to prove you cannot be stopped! Is there an attribute of God called the Unstoppable?

Well, CP, I'm doing my best to...uh...keep the faith though I'm virtually alone. Maybe God wants to see how serious I am about being a Baha'i? I'm doing the best I can considering I'm in tons of hell for several years and it just keeps getting worse.
C'est la vie!

Not Alone

This is from St. Petersburg, Florida.

Well, I suggest that you try going on Facebook to get in touch with other Bahá'ís too. I am there along with thousands more.

Here is a Facebook event you can join too.

Wow, Chicago? I always thought that it was next to impossible to toss a frisbee in Chicago without it accidentally hitting a Baha'i. Yes, we are imperfect, as BlinkeyBill says. Hopefully you found your connection--otherwise, I know a couple of people on the North Side there that I can email.
