Thanks for your question and welcome to the Forum.. The short answer is yes.. Baha'u'llah has addressed the issue in the Kitab-i-Aqdas.. however... how this is implemented and what guidance has been given is rather lengthy and detailed.. To be brief.. Homosexual acts themselves are forbidden for Baha'is.. Any sexual acts outside marriage are forbidden. A person with homosexual tendencies however is not to be treated any differently than any one else.. They should be respected. Baha'is are also free to consult confidentially with their Local Spiritual Assembly and request guidance for their situation whatever it may be.. I offer to you a general compilation from Baha'i sources on the subject for your further study.. Compilation, the Baha'i Faith and Homosexuality Again allow me again to welcome you to the Forum! - Art :wink Last edited by arthra; 03-26-2010 at 08:27 PM. |

Okay cool, thanks I can't believe that Bahá'u'lláh really forbade it, because it's in my eyes not an act of love, and in this way you don't fully accept homos.

We don't make up the rules as we go along Niyoosha.. If you want to understand Baha'i views on the subject I think you will find the material useful..

I read it, but I think I understand, but this is about sex between two people of the same sex. How about a relationship without sex or marrying?

Friendship is also extolled in the Writings as well as Love.. Love proceeds from the Creator to the creation and from the creation to the Creator and from the created to the created.. Love also is what holds the universe together... Here some citations: Bahá'u'lláh taught, that Religion is the chief foundation of Love and Unity and the cause of Oneness (Abdu'l-Baha, Abdu'l-Baha in London, p. 28) He brought the light of guidance to the world; He kindled the fire of love and revealed the great reality of the True Beloved. He sought to destroy the foundations of religious and racial prejudice and of political rivalry. (Abdu'l-Baha, Abdu'l-Baha in London, p. 36) |

I thought that this was interesting: ". Soul Mates "There is no teaching in the Bahá'í Faith that 'soul mates' exist. What is meant is that marriage should lead to a profound friendship of spirit, which will endure in the next world, where there is no sex, and no giving and taking in marriage; just the way we should establish with our parents, our children, our brothers and sisters and friends deep spiritual bond which will be ever-lasting, and not merely physical bonds of human relationship." (From a letter written on behalf of Shoghi Effendi to an individual believer, December 4, 1954) (Compilations, Lights of Guidance, p. 206) |
