The nonfulfilment of the divine promise

I was studying the Kitab-i-Iqan, and I saw some passages about Noah which is as follows:

"He several times promised victory to His companions and fixed the hour thereof. But when the hour struck, the divine promise was not fulfilled. This caused a few among the small number of His followers to turn away from Him, and to this testify the records of the best-known books.

.....what could have caused the nonfulfilment of the divine promise which led the seekers to reject that which they had accepted?" Kitab-i-Iqan, p.3

I read the Quran Surah of Hud and Noah, but I couldn't find anything mentioned about "The nonfulfilment of the divine promise from Noah"

Does anybody know what "the best-known books" refers to?

Thanks

It may be it refers to the "Hayat al-Qulub".. which has references to the people being in disobedience and delay of the divine promise also Hadith attributed to Imam al-Sadiq.

I think it's not in any Sacred Books such as the Bible or Qur'an, so it's probably in the Hadithes. Because Baha'u'llah says "the best-known books" not "Sacred books".

For example He uses the term "Sacred books" to refer to the Bible or Quran in another passage:

This notwithstanding the fact that all the Prophets of God, whenever made manifest unto the peoples of the world, have invariably foretold the coming of yet another Prophet after them, and have established such signs as would herald the advent of the future Dispensation. To this the records of all sacred books bear witness.

But please note that even Muslims can't agree on which hadith are correct, which is why Baha'is accept only those few directly quoted in our scriptures!
