Baha'i Music

Being a music teacher, and involved in the education of the Arts I was just curious what some great examples of Baha'i Music are.

Here are my two favorites that I have discovered on Youtube so far.

The DJ of the Blue Scholars is a Baha'i. Also, Common Market is a Baha'i group. However, this is hip-hop, but, nevertheless, it is Baha'i music!
You can feel the Baha'i influence through its social concern. Ra Scion, of Common Market, has a song called Lawh-i-ra (Dawn-breakers). Also, there is an R&B group that goes by Nabil and Karim.

Devon Gundry's "Armed" --- super sad but so powerful...

Andy Grammer's "Keep Your Head Up" ---- a very catchy, positive song

one up ya

Okay, Red Grammer, Kathy, David, and Andy were on Pilgrimage when I went. One night Red sang a prayer using the Pilgrim Center's loaner guitar, but then he went to a mall, got new strings for it, and sang the Tablet of Ahamad identically to his recording, never, never missed a beat. I will never ever get over that. I have devoured Red's adult music. He puts words to music that one can't imagine them not having that music before, lyrics you should only be able to read. I think Andy was 17. David did not have as large a musical gift.

Andy got the gift and likewise can make lyrics work with music like no one else except his father, but of course in his own way. I feel so blessed to have seen this. I am extremely musical but not a musician and have small skills. I understand what I am hearing, and I am grateful for that. Music is so special in this Faith. I say, I declare the renaissance has begun, it is bearing fruit!!!

Re-Fresh

Here are the lyrics to this song:

RE-FRESH

Deep breath, I request a requiem for apathy
Momentarily lost hope, but now it’s back in me
Temporarily felt defeated by the game
Then the light came just after the nightingale sang
Thank whoever you wish for the gift received
I let it be the definition of me, the emcee
Share thoughts with the downtrodden – intent:
To tap into the wealth of knowledge my people gain upon the avenue
I keep that close to my heart, though it seems like we’re
Oceans apart, the feedback is my motive to start
The reconstruction of the original ark – you’re safe
Just let the waves carry you out the dark
Brighter days await, the nemesis has sealed his fate
Only the true will pass through this gate
And you are one of those chosen – proof is in the fact
You’re right here – soul wide open to rap

CHORUS:
Take a deep breath, release stress, please rest
Be blessed by the beat and the essence of these texts
Peace kept with what the deity left: respect
And let the breeze lead me in these steps, yo we set to reach the
Peak lest we meet death, terrestrial – at the
Sweet behest of the celestial decree – yes
Repeat “yes” we defeat weakness
Deep breath, feel the steez in effect, and let the breeze refresh…

Deep breath, I request a requiem for ignorance
Ever since the Chop got blessed, we less venomous
Call for the consensus here, with the rhythm we nod
Revitalized – spirit in ‘em recharched
I cite love as the impetus for change in the language the frame speaks
This is not ‘self-embraced’ – we
Interlaced through break beats, the sum of our parts
Is great, just like the summer you discovered the art
My heart beats quantized – synch up the SP (1200)
Life-vein tracks back to link-up with prestige
Hold the mic, I’m honored – type to write in a code
Disciple of ‘fiends,’ quoted in the ‘bible’ “by all means”
It’s ‘necessary’ I give, too – upon takin’
Atop the park bench start to sense the frustration of men
Respiration circulatin’ in the wind
Take it in and let the change begin – breathe with me…

CONNECT FOR:

Connect For: The sake of my beloved mentor
Connect For: Those exposed to rain when it pours
Connect For: The benefit of every last fan
Who raised a hand on your command, let’s
Connect For: The chance to support the amateur
Connect For: Revival of the vibe of ‘The Score’
Connect For: The sake of the kids, if nothing more
They can’t afford to face another closed door, let’s

Connect For: The prospect of steps uncharted
Pioneers in the context of “let’s start it”
To be certain the efforts of the martyrs are applauded
I’mma share Specs’ burden to resurrect the artist
Usher in the Renaissance – a plea to Medici
To commission each and every emcee in the CD [Central District]
Meet me on the Hill [Capitol] with your catalog of styles
We’re collabin’ with the crowd congregatin’ ‘round Sal’s
And be loud enough [that] sound travels upstairs
And beyond to the ears of the once debonair
‘Til the idea clicks: put a little more Blue [Scholars] in the mix
With the Grey [Skull] – it’s your Word to Say [Wordsayer]
So brother speak – ‘cause some stand with both feet in your opinion
And would happily embrace a ‘New Dominion’
If you’re ready to build, I’ll be standin’ at Denny and Olive waitin’
To break ground and form a foundation, let’s

Connect For: The promise to provide for the poor
Connect For: The prosperity of you and yours
Connect For: The simple fact size brings strength
Resources will reinforce our ‘weak links,’ let’s
Connect For: The possibility of Cold War
Connect For: The probability of that law
Connect For: The opportunity to ensure the force
Of our community’s rapport, let’s

Connect For: The proprietorship of something greater than a label
Bring the rain – we remain faithful
And though we’re able to stay tied through gray skies
We never ‘weather the storm’ together – we stay dry
And that’s surprisin’ – here where life thrives, we’re barely survivin’
We the stamina to keep the sign of Cancer Rising
A bit of organizing for the sake of [Project] Mayhem
Make them the gate keepers of the next way in

I extend and supply a hand to the Silent Lambs [Project]
Tryin’ to ally the fam, I’ll not stop for one defiant man
Play the role of David to the giant and cock the shot
To drop the opposition right where they stand
Victory is ours for sure if we’re determined to win
Firm in the covenant concerning the tenets of
Kinship throughout the Sound’s people
There’s room for every one of us to be Under the Needle, let’s

Connect For: Enhancement of our repertoire
Connect For: The advancement of the art form
Connect For: The chance for us to prove to the critics
Hiphop is not dividin’ this district, let’s
Connect For: The call for an eternal encore
Connect For: The making of a new supreme corps
Connect For: The breakdown of the last wall
That keeps the mass from that reward, let’s

Connect For: DV and Soul One, let’s
Connect For: Jerm and Asun, let’s
Connect For: Dirty Byrdy and Scene, Bishop I and Karim
And the Team [Boom Bap] and plus Bean [One], let’s
Connect For: B-Mello and Skin, let’s
Connect For: Sam [Chesneau] and Mark Sense, let’s
Connect For: Sonny B [Bonoho] and O Deez, Black Swan
H Bomb, Roc’phella and Piece, yo let’s
Connect For: The New Improved Dirty Dev, let’s
Connect For: All of Mad Krew’s heads, let’s
Connect For: Bad Luk, Phreewil, Gabriel and Khalil
It’s time for all us to build…
