A thought has just struck me. It's generally accepted that we don't have any clergy. I wonder is it possible that the various institution members might appear to others as clergy under a different name!?
As a Baha'i I understand your point, non Baha'is might not. The Pope is also electedThere are many differences, here are some came to mind just now:
- In Bahai faith, we elect assembly members every year. Other faith do not elect the clergy throug voting.
- In Bahai faith, the individual members of assemblies do not have any special spiritual ranks, unlike what we see in previous religions.
- in Bahai faith, the members of assembly are not considered experts in Religion. In other Religions, the clergy are considered experts in explaining and interpreting verses of the Book.
My knowledge about the Pop election is limitted. I always thought, the Pop elects the next Pop.As a Baha'i I understand your point, non Baha'is might not. The Pope is also elected
The Pope is elected by the college of cardinals sitting in secret conclave. The college includes every Cardinal in the world and all converge on Rome for the pontifical electionMy knowledge about the Pop election is limitted. I always thought, the Pop elects the next Pop.
I didnt know, every year, all Christians in the world, vote to choose their prists, or every 5 years they elect their Pop.
