how can you tell if a site is official

I found a nice website that has good links to prayers, and such, even has a printable declaration card. It doesn't seem to be linked to any covenant breakers, that i know of. Is there any way to tell if a web page is legit?

By the smell you shall know it: if it is full of love for mankind and the will to serve mankind you have come to the right place. If, on the contrary, it rants about the Davidian lineage and is full of self-pity, you can be sure to have come to the wrong place. :)

Covenant Breaker sites usually exercise themselves over Abdu'l-Baha's Will, or some necessity of still needing a Guardian.

If you see either one of those subjects given prominence, you can be certain that the site is a withered branch---it definitely is not attached to the Tree of Life.

Good morning noogan

Both answers given above are spot on. If you still may have doubts, post the link here with a question - if it turns out rotten, you can always come back to the post and remove the website name and link to protect future readers of the post from being redirected to a "off" site.

Should you ever accidental stumble upon a Covenant Breaker site, you will know it in general without any doubt. Some are a little more "cunning", but the site will prove itself very quickly as you investigate deeper.

And, should you ever stumble on one of these sites, do not assume you are immediately infected. Your clear and obvious firmness in the Covenant will be your shield and protector, and your revulsion will immediately drive you away from there. Perhaps some prayers for the guidance of the misguided, but that is about all.

Al things, even the Covenant Breakers, serve the purpose of God. When these misguided ones no longer have any purpose in God's Plan, then they will vanish. Both Baha'u'llah and the Bab have promised that the day will come when every soul shall bow itself to God in adoration and humility.

With most warm greetings

Romane

I went to this page this morning, and this is part of the text written:

"IMPORTANT NON-AFFILIATION NOTE: This site is maintained by the founders of Classpros.com (e-learning technology providers) as individuals, and is not an official site of any organized religion, including The Baha'i Faith, Christian or Catholic churches, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, etc."

it was this page. I havent looked at everything, but it seemed useful Astonishing Prayers for Many Occasions!
Amazing! Never seen such a page before. It looks like the page of an independent, unaffiliated but sympathetic seeker. I wouldn't be surprised if we were to see more of those in the future. Looks like kind of a result of a search for a spiritual basis for planetary consciousness.

My personal reaction to the page is sympathetic curiosity. Seems like the site is run by computer people, judging from the presentation: "One of the current debates in the CG math community is the fate of NURBS compared to subdivision surfaces, especially in skin texturing and fabric sims. What the mathematicians don't always realize is that the 500 pound gorilla in the corner is scripting: regardless of your use of spline tangents in your animations in Maya; NURBS meshes as anchors for rigging or placeholders for key sets in Unity; Bezier handles in your surface smoothing in Adobe Illustrator, etc.; a few lines of Python can trump days or weeks of individual vertex or edge math and manipulation! Want to create a dead, meteor riddled planet? You can manipulate several hundred repeating vertices and ray trace iterative repetition and interpolation ss style, or you can enter the little block of Python code in the illustrations below-- to create 40,000 vertices randomly offset and noise corrected-- in about 4 seconds with a relatively new GPU!"

New information

I've been in contact with the site and received a reply from its owner, who told me he's been a Bahá'í for half a century.

Best

Getting even better. On telling the guy that i had found his site through Bahai Forums, I got this reply:

Wow that's very cool, in fact, we are just working on that site to update it

Fun, isn't it?
