Reincarnation

As Bahais, we know that reincarnation is not part of our beliefs and the explanations that The Master has given about life after death are perfectly understood. Nevetheless there are many people who insist on reincarnation and they back their ideas on hypnosis and people who have the ability of performing hypnosis and taking people to so called past lives and there are many testimonies of this on the internet and also there are many evidences by psychiatrist who have written books to try to prove reincarnation true.
I was checking through a book written by Brian Weiss, Many lives , many masters
I have a slight hint to refute the topic ; as our genes store information and within the time and passing of the generations , that information passes from one generation to another .
Maybe my lack of knowledge and poor language skills does not allow me to express myself clearly.
I would like to learn more about this intriguing topic.
Many thanks in advance.

This argument doesn't stand, as people receive memories from past lives that have not related to them genetically.

I personnally believe there is something about reincarnation (I have myself memories of past lives), but I don't know what it is, and whatever it is, the very concept may be damaged. So, I rather be humble and make the experience of my own mortality, instead of relying on any teaching, even that of Abdul Baha.

I will just say this :

there are many evidences by psychiatrist who have written books to try to prove reincarnation true.
We automatically assume that past lives are related to reincarnation. But they are two different things. What if, for instance, there was no reincarnation, but rather simple incarnations that could repeat for some reasons ? I don't know, and, actually, I don't care.

I had an interesting experience talking to a doctor who used hypnotherapy. He had a friend who accompanied him on lectures about hypnotherapy and who had agreed he could hypnotise them. Someone asked him about past lives and he said that it was rubbish and that he could prove it. He said you could regress people right to birth and they could remember stuff. If you took them further back than birth, then asked questions they would just try and answer by putting together whatever they had consciously or sub-consciously picked up over the years.

He sent his friend under and took them back. This person recounted some details of a past life, saying what town they were from but did not seem able to come up with an address. He brought them back. He did not discuss with them when they were conscious and then casually, in conversation within their hearing talked about a holiday that he and his wife had had to the town then had mentioned. He said the address of where he had stayed on holiday. Later he put his friend under hypnosis again and then and took them back to their "past" life. This time all the details were the same but they remembered an address - it was the one he has claimed to have stayed at when on holiday!

The doctor did not seem to be someone who was that interested in beliefs but just said that this is what he had found with his patients who wanted to be taken back further than birth. That made sense to me.

Pollwr! what you said is really interesting. this is a very good reason to see why there is nothing called reincarnation as we know it.
something Abdul Baha has said that can very beautifully explain the real meaning of reincarnation:

...this flower once upon a time was of the soil. The animal eats the flower or its fruit, and it thereby ascends to the animal kingdom. Man eats the meat of the animal, and there you have its ascent into the human kingdom, because all phenomena are divided into that which eats and that which is eaten. Therefore, every primordial atom of these atoms, singly and indivisible, has had its coursings throughout all the sentient creation ...

if we ponder upon it and relate it to spiritual matters in each individual we can see that to be reincarnated doesn't happen after our physical death; it is not about the physical body. it is all about states of the spirit. some people who are just normal in looks, are having a very dark and lowly spirit just like a stone. some people for example only think about satisfying their bodily desires, then they are in the animal realm. and some people have gained a high knowledge of the Truth.

I've been thinking a bit. Did I ever have a human friend, who lived up to the qualities of a dog or a cat? How could we believe in reincarnation, then? It would be unfair if we were elevated to the rank of a cat or a dog in our next life. So, it is our fate to go on to another life in another dimension, pursuing our miserable human paths, not even being allowed to dream of reaching the lofty station of a dog or a cat.

Has Bahaullah rejected the law of karma and reincarnation. It has been mentioned in all of the world major religions except Islam. The mystic branch of Judaism, Kabbalah teaches reincarnation

The souls must reenter the absolute substance whence they have emerged. But to accomplish this, they must develop all the perfections, the germ of which is planted in them; and if they have not fulfilled this condition during one life, they must commence another, a third, and so forth, until they have acquired the condition which fits them for reunion with God. (Zohar, Vol. II:99)

The Christian Bible has references to law of karma and reincarnation in the following verses. There were many more but the Second Council of Constantinople deleted them from the Bible.

...for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap - Galatians 6:7

....for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword - Matthew 26:52

“Who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind? - John 9:2:

Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out - Revelation 3:12

What it means is that if you overcome your karma, you will permanently become part of God (reunited) and will not go out in to the world again (reincarnate)

The most sacred Hindu scripture is quite clear about it.

Just as the embodied soul passes from childhood to youth to old age, it also passes from one body to another. The undaunted person therefore is not deluded.- Bhagavad-Gita 2:13

As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones - Bhagavad-Gita 2:22
